2FACE IS SICK BY WALE APPLAUSE

2FACE IS SICK!!!

In the literary meaning of sick, 2Face Idibia is not actuaally lieing on any bed as baba is very hale and hearty, but it actually took me a very long time to finally decide a title to tag this epistle.

After listening to 2Face's new album Away and Beyond for several days repeatedly, i cane to a conclusion that 2Face Idibia is very SICK, reasons of which are obvious.

This crowned King of African music is second to none. The 'African Queen' crooner who has immensely paid his dues in the music factory is a god amidst meen.

Starting out as a member of the defunct Plantashun boiz with Faze and the man with a Blackface, went on a solo career in search of greener pastures. Back in the Plantashun days, 2Face Idibia was very spectacular. Although other acts in the group were excellent, but 2Face was exceptional. His voice and lyrics always stood out.

It could be arrgued that the African Queen song that sold him out wasn't written by him, but if the writer could have done any better, ho wouldn't have handed it over to 2 BABA.

2Face Idibia the god has stood exceedingly out all over Africa and the rest of the World. He's at the peak of his career and only waxing stronger. He's the Messi of music. His thought beats imaginations. He's not of the bootyn fast cars good life lyrics school of thought, yet baba is still very successful commercially which is a lesson for all up and coming acts.

I wouldn't say that there cannot be another 2Face, i would rather ask if the sun has beeen doubled. 2Face is a directory to greatness. He is indeed an icon.

Although with his fair share of scandals, having had 6 children out of wedlock (still counting), i must emphasise that success comes with its own challenges. I wouldn't sit back here to write in support of 2Face's act, and at the same time i would be bias not to condemn it because i know attachments to stardom. Come to think of it, which African woman doesn't want to bear a child for 2 baba?

Back to the music scene, take a good look at the Nigeria music factory scene, when you think of a D'banj, there's a Durella, when you think of Olamide, there's a Reminisce, a Wizkid brings Davido to mind. Rugged man, Mode nine, Terry tha rapman and others, 9ice brings into play Isolate, Banky W and Dare Art Alade could be said similar. Several upcoming acts now copy Terry G's style, and Wande Coal is synonymous to Iyanya, Chuddy K and YQ.

But on the thought of 2Face, you won't argue that only 2face comes to mind. He's different intelectually and lyrically.

Obviously, most producer get a different inspiration wheen 2baba is the client. Producers such as Ojb Jazreel and J Sleek have never regretted working with him. This man is indeed second to none.

What beats imagination more is how he puts normal everyday situation into music undilutedly. On listening to 2face's lyrics deeply, it would be said that this man is Away and Beyond.

2 baba has fondly called by friends and fans is one whose humility cannot be compared. Sometimes he forgets he's a celebrity and a star. He loves kids (no arguments), very playful, jovial and friendly, i wonder why anyone would want this kind of man dead?

Finally, i would say that though there's nothing new under the heavens, but it will definitely take a while to find another music maestro like 2Face. I will be glad to tell generations that i lived in the days of 2Face Idibia. On that note, i will say to you that 2Face Idibia is sick!!!

PRESH - INTERVIEW BY WALE APPLAUSE

It was a lucky day for me hooking up with his manager, i mean Presh of the defunct KC presh. We both intentionally at first did not disclose our identities. We discussed several issues including online write ups
by one Wale Applause. I wanted to know his view of him and by so decided to keep mute. Not until his eagle landed did i stylishly ask him if he knew who Wale Applause is. He truthfully said he would't
recognize him, not until then did i disclose my identity. He was real surprised and at last we formally had an introduction. I was glad to know that he's the manager of Presh whom i've always wanted to have a
conversation with. I needed clarification about the going solo saga. I humbly requested an interview which he obliged. I was indeed happy and couldn't wait for a time to be fixed. It was a nice day out with Presh
after his trip from Abuja and here are excerpts of the discourse.

• Who is Presh?

Presh is a God fearing dude, Musically inclned, love having fun and just an easy going person.

• How did it all start for you?

Well, I was born Precious John, in d city of Ajegunle, couple of years back. was the choir master in my church way back before star quest came calling. I grew up in the slum, wasn't easy trying to get things done but God made it possible shaa.. abt my life style, i just like being comfortable. Not that i like showing my self or something, i just like being comfortable.

• Please define your kind of music?

Well, back then while i was still a member of Kcpresh, we sang hiphop. but right now, am an r and b singer. so my kind of sound right now coukd be classified as " RnB.

• Why music?

Welll, like i said earlier, i actually started in the church as a music director. Its just something i can't really explain. but i guess it was all mapped out by God. so i really cant tell y its music.but all i know is that its paid off seriously.,..

• Let’s discuss your kinda music, your inspirations, mentors…Well, doing the solo thing now, i would say my inspiration comes mainly from God, and my mood. i might be feeling so in love at a particular time and just wanna write about it. might be feeling pains about the society and i just write about it. might be feeling one gurl down d road and she's using me to form and i might just write about it. so in a nut shell, i just get my mood swing working and am game.

As for mentore, i grew up listening to a whole lot of artist and like i said, i grew up in the church so every music i heard had their own impact on me in their own different ways.

• Challenges faced ever since you chose music as a career well, truthfully, every profession comes with its own challenges. so the same goes for music. But God has been faithfull to me shaa.

• Your first song going solo and as a group?

If as a solo artist, the first song would be "O BAD" which features Iceprince Zamani. but if its as a group, its "Ese baba".

• First hit song

As a group, its "ese baba" but as a solo artist now, its my current song" who goes there"

• We have always known KC presh, why now we know KC and Presh, what led to that?

Well, we just sat down and decided to go solo, we decided to try out our individual talents.

• Let talk about your song 'Who goes there' that song is dope, what's behind that song?

well, the song talks abut a fine girl that caught my attention. walked up to her and she wan begin dey form dats where the " WHO GOES THERE" comes in.
• Why did u decide to do a remix?

well, the remix cameas a result of the fact that i was actually shooting the video and Eva and Zee were at Clareance's place on the day of the shoot. they started freestyling to the beat. I loved what they were doing. so immediately, we talked and we did the remix which is the result of what you have now.

• How do you cope wif dem gals?

Well, like i said earier, every profession comes with one challenges or the other. I just try to be as professional as i can in my dealing with everyone.

• What’s in the future?

Well, man proposes, and God disposes. Just hoping to be on top of my game dats all. But there would also be smashing hits from me. more songs dat would forever remain in the hearts of many.

• How have you been able to handle fame?

Well, God's wisdom has been my guiding stick. what can i do without God? NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!

• Any proposed international collaboration or tour?

Definitely. its all in the map. would be unveiling my tour and collaborations with international artists soon. So just keep your finger crossed.

• Let’s talk more about your tour

Like i said, just keep your fingers crossed. though i would be touring Europe next month, i still have other plans that i would infold when the time comes. But one thing is sure, it wont be a boring experience at all.

Where do you see the future of the Nigeria music factory

Well, with the whole international status and height we have attained at this stage, definitely its a plus for us and what more can i say than we still gonna make history.

• Advice to up and comings

Wel, one thing i always tell them is" you can never be me. u are u, so develope that part of you that makes you who you really are. dnt come into the game because of the money because once the money dosnt come
in, you will be fraustrated and would easily chicken out. make sure u have a deep passion for music. be yourself and just be orignal."

• What have always been your watch words?

All thungs are possible. Put God first.

• Parting words to your fans

Thanks for believing in my brand, keep the support coming and i promise not to dissappoint you. fasten your seat belt cause henceforth, you will be going on a journey into the world of good music that PRESH would be deliverying to you. God bless your hustle.........

REASONS WHY DJ'S WON'T PLAY YOUR SONG BY WALE APPLAUSE

Its often not a part of me to break my promises, so i decided that no matter what i'm going to drop this epistle today. I got back home from my last engagement of the day at about 2:00 am in the morning, but still painstakingly decided to take time out to do this. It was indeed a very long day for me as i had several meetings at different locations. The first was with the Association of Nigeria Djs which held at Club Amnesia Surulere for over 7 hours. Although the very popular vice president of the association Dj Jimmy jatt was there in absential, the meeting was well anchored by the President Dj Larry, another renowned but less popular Disc jockey.

It was a large gathering of Djs and few upcoming acts who came to solicit support of this association. A lot was said at this meeting and i came to realise why some songs do not and will not get airplay. It was reason enough to know why some up and coming acts will never reach the peak of their careers and why some already registed ones will not sustain the tempo. At my second meeting of the day with the Djs at Yaba area in Lagos, most of the things said correlated those i earlier heard at the previos meeting with the National association.

Before i go on, for the very first time online, i wish to make a formal introduction. I'm Wale Applause, an obvious music lover and writer for over 30 websites and blogs. I'm the Editor of Harplus Global Communications, publishers of the periodic Applause Africa Magazine. I'm an artist and music publicist and promoter to acts like Olamide, Rugged man, Lineo Elepepe Master (US), XL ( A new york sensational rapper), Hakymthedream Lamba tour, Demmy blaze and Bucho. Also the manager cun publicist of Gee 4 the 'omo to badt' crooner and Jay Marcus 'Nigboro crooner'. An event and artiste tour planner and manager, (grassroot) music researcher with a strong love for humble up and coming acts who do good music, that's the drive that joyfully make me write these epistles. I guess that's enough about me.

Now to the business at hand which is why most Djs will not play your song. This epistle is relevant to all up and coming acts including already established ones. Amidst the Disc jockeys, it's an established fact that most of them have been ridiculed, embarrassed, and disgraced by several acts whom they have natured to growth in the music factory. At both encounters i had with the Djs, they all had this painful statement to make which really hurt them so deep. A lot was said at the meetings, but i was able to bring them together into subheadings.

- RESPECT THE DJ's: Its a known fact that before any act could and would get to the climax of his/her career, one or more Dj must haveee been involved, so why not respect them? No matter how small you think a Disc jockey is, he still got his audience. Remember, songs don't make Djs, they make songs. Don't u ever think that if you do not make music, they got nothing to play, where were Nigerian acts when Sisqo ruled the globe? The first rule is respect which is reciprocal.

Dj PLAY MY SONG: This was a general complaint of most club and party Djs. They often time go to their places of work which is the clubs, then an artiste comes around, then either walk up to the Dj or send his manager with the message tell the Dj to play my song. Who do you think you are, apologies to 2face Idibia ( a humble king). Where is the word 'please'? These people are fathers and brothers, they should be approached with utmost respect. At the meetings, i gathered that when occassions like this occur, the dustbin is put to effective use.

MAKE GOOD MUSIC: What kinda Dj places money or familiarity over credibility? Every Dj who is got his/her own audience is careful of the kind of music being played. Once your song is listened to and doesn't fit into his kind of play, dear artiste he's got no reason to play your song. He's not wicked when he bluntly tells you to get better. These people have listened to music from far and near, so when a Dj truthfully tells you that your song ain't fit for airplay, you can only get better.

INTRODUCTION and DELIVERY: most Djs when sampling your song do not have all the time to listen to your 4mins track. All they need is a strong connection with your introduction and beat attack. If and when this is gotten wrong, impressing most Djs become an herculain task.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF DJs: Dear artiste, no matter how good you think your music is, it could as well be good as dead if and when not played by Djs. You have to acknowledge this and give honour to whom its due. When you get your chance in the media during interviews and press confrences, do not be too big to thank them, they are humans too. Do this every chance you get and watch what you get in return.

- PRIDE: This goes before every fall. In my private discussions with the National President of Dj Assocciation, I realised that most credible Djs had started playing music ever before most acts ever decided to pick up music as a career. These people are way older than you think they are. Sometimes, they look at a Cd cover, and they say to themselves that he's not even as old as my child. Treat they with utmost humility because more than u think, they deserve it.

- MONEY DOES IT ALL: I would love to begin this by saying that only lazy Djs are broke. In sincere truth, they really do not need your money to play your song, only that the hand that worketh must eat. Do not go to them flaunting the little cash you got. They seen more. Its reduces your credibility and sustainability. Although it aint bad appreciating and paying for the service rendered you, but avoid flaunting that little cash in your pocket. Where yours end, another begins, so be very careful about this.

- INADEQUATE PROMOTION: This is a major weakness of most up and coming acts. You print a couple pieces of your promo Cd to give a few Djs. When a Dj willingly asks for 20 copies of your cd, you tell him you only got 4, that's a lot of discouragement. Your music is nowhere on the internet, yet you want him to singularly push your song. Who fills a basket? Please after your studio session and you already got a well mixed and mastered piece, do not start promotion and publicity until you are ready. For your information, promotion could cost you a lot of money which could be as much as over N500, 000 if you haven't got thee right connects. Do not think i'm blind to the fact that must up and comings have the hurdle of finance to cross (we can't all be Davido) , but the truth is do not start until you are ready and got the resources.

- BAD FEATURE: On this subheading, i wish i could give names, but that will be so unethical. Please dear upcoming artiste, before you feature any artiste on your track, research his relationship with Djs. Some artistes havve totally lost it with them, therefore having them on your track will just spill oil on your garment. As hard as this is to believe, i just let you into a very big secret.

- POOR ARTWORK AND DRESS SENSE: They say the way you dress is the way you addressed. Most Djs have seen several promotional CDs, so understandable it might take a lot to impress them in terms of artworks, but why hand over a white CD to a DJ in a white A4 paper. You got no print on the back of the CD, yet you stick it into just white sheet. Take a look into their bags and CD rack, you will see compact discs with good quality artworks. Take your time to get a good graphix designer who can at least deliver a quality artwork, this is sincerely appreciated or else your disc befriends the bin. Another point of note under this subheading is the dress sense of most upcoming artistes. You walk up to a gathering of Djs in big necklaces, which is otherwise known as blings, your cap to the back, your dark shades on, and in extremely thight carrot jeans. You can bet you won't be taken seriously. Its understandable that as an artiste you have to look 'fly', but do not convience this with looking presentable. Any good shirt on a decent pair of trousers won't bite. I'm not asking that you disregard all of your clothes as i understand that this is what most of you have, all i'm saying is that you save them for the shows.

All cannot be said in a single epistle, but i'm sure that i have been able to shed a ray of light to this problems as to why most songs will not and do not enjoy airplay. For more information, Wale Applause is very approachable and willing to assist up and coming artistes. I can be contacted on twitter @waleapplause01, or sent a mail on applauseafricamedia30@gmail.com, i can assure it won't be a bad start.

Now i have to lay my head as i continue my bond making with Dj which takes me to Oyo, Osun and Ondo states to meet with the Djs who you can be assured have the same things to say. Dear artiste, i really do hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Wale Applause

SHALOM - NO LAMBA

When you hear the Hebrew word SHALOM, what comes to your mind is the bible or the English translation of the word “PEACE”…but here we are talking about none of that! Shalom here, is one new breed of Nigerian musician, with an eclectic sound. Born, Titus Uwana Ufot on august 15th. His journey into music began at age ten, little shalom joined the senior choir in his church as the youngest addition to the group, though young in age, he was unarguably one of the best tenor the church had, his early found love for music grew so strong into his teenage years, he began the melody makers, an eight man accapella group. Their popularity soared beyond the four walls of the high school when it began, they did gigs like pros, he said… they were booked for different performances, from weddings to conventions and even government functions, but the group could not keep it together after graduation, this development led to shalom's fresh journey into music as a solo artiste.

Today the fair skinned singer has matured into a full blown young man ready to take on the music industry armed with multiple singles; nwayioma, feel me, bakan and fresh out videos and a charged spirit gearing to make imprints in the sands of the music industry.

He featured on 2tracks in CHUDDY K's “I AM ME!” album; walakolombo and rock this party (from dj Vinnie mix tape) and has many collaboration to his profile……SHALOM is under GIGGLESPLUS MANAGEMENT.

LESSONS TO LEARN FROM YOUNG SUCCESSFUL TALENTED ARTISTES; OLAMIDE IN FOCUS. BY WALE APPLAUSE

A good look at the music industry at the moment, it's well said that most of the dudes doing well are young talents, who have given their hearts to music in a long time. These dudes all have loop holes though, at the same time they got somethings that have sustained and will keep sustaining them in the music factory.

This epistle is for up and comings artistes to learn from this young talented dude and see what has kept him in the business. I took time out to research a few of these young successful talents and i decided its time to take them one after the other, starting with Olamide in focus. This dude unknown to him has 7 key points worthy of note and everyone who know him can attest to this. These are 7 lessons to be learnt from this Successful talented young man.
Humility: It's well said by the yoruba's that "Idobale ko kin se iwa" which literally means in english that the fact that you always prostrate doesn't make you a person of good behaviour. Time was taken out to study Olamide and how he defines humility, after which i came to the conclusion that he's of genuine humility. Not one does he pay respect to whom its due, but genuniely pays respect to everyone that comes his way. I guess he must have butressed this attribute of his fron Cabasa. One of those things that have kept olamide in the music factory is this trait of his, HUMILITY. This is one lesson to be held onto by up and comings to learn and imbibe.
FRIENDS and HUMAN RELATION: This is one trait you won't have if humility doesn't come first. Sometimes, i get to forget that this dude is highly celebrated. Olamide relates well with everyone and instead of fans, he officially calls everyone that loves him and his music friends. He follows you on twitter without much ado, accepts your facebook requests whenever he logs on, relates well on the streets.
GOOD LOOKS and PHYSIQUE

Although Olamide doesn't have the looks and physique of Mr. Universe, he's blessed with good looks and takes time to work on his physique and dress sense. He's almost a dandy. This has gotten him a lot of friends, especially the female folks. I have met a lot of ladies who have a very strong crush on Olamide for whichh i'm very sure that his good looks must have played a role in that. His aircut is splendid. Dear upcoming artisite, let me be quick to share this secret with you, once you got the female folks as friends and fans, your sustainablity in the music factory becomes very high (Wale Applause dint tell you this).

STREET CREDIBILITY

This dude is very credible on the streets. His song though connects well with everyone, but most people on the streets connect better with his songs, as they always leave the streets with a slang, with reference to 'Omo to shan' and 'E ni duro'. (Even the videos were shot on the streets)
POWERFUL RHYTMS and RHYMES

Olamide is one of the artistes that i cherish do much for this attribute. Not just because his rhymes rhyme, but they communicate and always have a story to tell. He isn't any artiste that just rhymes, he is one of meaningful rhymes. All his rhymes, quote me anywhere, communicates with the audience and have a story to tell. He is one of the very few artistes that care about his lyrics and use of words. He doesn't boast of the good life he lives, talking about fast cars, binks and all and neither does he cry about booty and boobs, but instead, he takes out good time to write and deliver good lyrics to his friends. This dude is indeed here to stay.

STRONG LYRICS and POWERFUL USE OF WORDS

Not much is to bbe said about this obvoius attribute of Olamide's songs. Every music lover and friend of Olamide and his music can attest to this. This dude who sincerely doesn't do any kind of drug and drinks neither is a natural talent who always get his lines right, not just only on his tracks, but even when featured.

GOOD QUALITY BEATS and PUBLICITY

Olamide doesn't joke with these. He is always very careful about the beat he spits on. Why won't he, haven started with the beat genuis Cabasa. Although very intelligent with word, rhymes and all, he doesn't take his friends for fools bt delivering on wack beats. This dude as far as i know is almost a perfectionist with beats, ask H-Code.

Olamide also doesn't joke with his publicity. Even with his busy shedule, hhe always endeavours to communicate with his friends any chance he gets.

Al well said, Olamide is a successful young talent to be looked up to by new arrivals and upcomings as he got what is takes to always remain in the music factory. This epistle which takes into focus young successful talented artistes will next time divulge about why another young dude 'name withheld' has sustained in the industry. For now, from Wale Applause, i'll again talk to you.

JAMMAL - TOUCH DOWN

Trybe Music Clan presents the stunning singer-song writer JAMMAL. Born Abdul-azeem Jammal Ibrahim; the 22 year old hails from Kogi State, but was born and bred in Jos, Plateau State. At the tender age of 5, he found his love for music singing hymnals with family members and later joined the choir at age 7. He got his first ‘booth ‘experience in 2002 which signalled off his career in the entertainment scene. After years of learning and harnessing his skills his first single, ‘Here I Stand’, was released in 2011. Now he drops another track appreciating the true beauty of the Nigerian woman who he adores so much it makes him 'touch down' his ego. 'Touch Down' embraces the heart of the ladies and reminds the gentile men of the beauty of the Nigerian woman. The genre of his latest song cuts across R&B and blends with afro beats to spice it up. Trybe Inc & TMC’s very own producer extraordinaire, Xwit, laces the beat to this masterpiece and rapper GeniuZz, drops bars on this one.

Currently he is an undergraduate student at Babcock University majoring in Computer Information Systems. His musical influences include the likes of Chris Brown, Ne yo, Usher, Fela, Kanye West and a host of others. Sometimes he is fondly called ‘hooker’ because of his drive and prolific ability to lace a chorus on any beat without hesitation. BEMYODA - SHIMA YAM

For as much as emerging Nigerian Soul artist BEMYODA - real name Bem Iordaah - is a brilliantly creative songwriter, he is an equally amazingly beautiful singer. He does not present you with music that is the norm because for Bemyoda, every line of a song is the summary of a deeper meaning and every phrase explains a concept larger than that phrase. According to Bemyoda, music is first an expression of its creator and who they are, it has to be...

Born in Benue state to musically inclined parents (his father was a member of the Church choir), Bemyoda’s musical influences range from the likes of India Arie to Tracy Chapman to Jill Scott to Dwele amongst others while he professes a great and profound respect and appreciation for Nigerian artists such as Asa and Nneka - two artists who defy the usual to do what their hearts say.

Honing his singing talents from as early as 5 years of age, Bemyoda picked up writing a few years later at just 14, first in the form of articles that won essay competitions for his secondary school and then by way of songs that were only sung in quiet places and for his ears only. As he grew older, some of his inhibitions were stripped away and he would later go on to pen songs that would become signature staples for his university choir (Federal University of Technology Minna) and easy favourites in concerts and among listeners.

Fast forward to 2012 and after an excellent but bit-part feature on Phishaman’s “God Is on Her Remix” from last year as well as a finalist position at Chimamanda’s Creative Writing workshop in Lagos a year before, Bemyoda is finally ready to come of age as one of Africa’s foremost new Soul artists - the first taste of which is the sublime sounding Soulful opus “Shima Yam”

“When you listen to my music, do this one thing - listen. My words will paint you pictures - visualiaze.” - Bemyoda

FLOW SICK - INTERVIEW BY WALE APPALAUSE

• Who is Flow sick?

My name is Abiola David Aina, A performing artist, an entertainer, a student, a God fearing person.

• A brief into your background and lifestyle?

I grew up in an extended family .I have a lot of siblings, my mother raised me to be very religious. My brothers actually made me discover the music thing in me because they kept buying cds of musicians I liked then so I steal cds most times to listen to them over and over.

My lifestyle is simple. Nothing too extravagant.

• What kinda music do you do?

My Genre of music right now is actually afro dancehall but I would say my style of music is eclectic because I am also blessed with the gift of rapping and singing so I can say I am dynamic. Can’t be kept in a box.

• Why music?

Music has always been part of me though I realized that at the age of 7 and since then it’s been my joy and motivation to success in life.

• Let’s discuss your kinda music, your inspirations, mentors…

My music like I said earlier is Afro Dancehall and the inspiration to my kind of music has to do with a lot of things, like my family, the people I meet every day, my environment, my fans, the music that makes me stand up to dance once I hear it and the daily motivation and encouragement which I get from people who believe in me.

I have a lot of mentors in different aspects of life concerning whatever it is each individual is doing but narrowing it down to music it’s a long list.I see Fela, ASA, Nneka, Dbanj, Banky W as all mentors cause I grew up listening to all these people and they are good at what they do.

• Challenges faced ever since you chose music as a career?

A lot I must say and can’t say it all because I see every day of my life as a challenge since I came out officially in November 2011 and all I do is just pray to God for is mercy and guidance towards the path I have chosen though some have been mistakes but I learn from them and they make me stronger towards my other endeavors.

• First song?

My First song is a feature with a close friend of mine..Dammy Krane . The song is Called Monkey post.

• First hit song?

My first Hit song is called LOWKEY, Was recorded in March 2011, Released officially in November 2011, Produced by E-kelly.

• How did your family accept your musical career?

Well my parents were against it at first because all they were about was go to school and get some degrees for yourself which was actually not a problem for me. I tried a lot to make them understand that music was just something within me and would like to show the world what I am made off. After a lot of deliberation they agreed and here I am doing an interview as an artist.

They have been 100% behind me since I dropped Lowkey and am sure they will forever remain behind me.

• What’s in the future, what do we expect from you in the nearest future?

A Lot actually. Working on international collaborations, more features, more hit singles and then an album.

• How have you been able to handle fame?

Well I have been my same self even after I came out as Flowssick. Nothing has changed about me. So the fame thing really doesn’t determine who I am or what I am.

• Any proposed international collaboration or tour?

Yes off course but won’t let the cat out of the bag till when the time is right concerning the collaborations and hopefully my management would be releasing a tour date, location sometime before august.

• Where do you see the future of the Nigeria music factory?

I am proud to say I am a Nigerian artiste because the industry is doing really well for its self. I want to thank the likes of Don jazzy, ASA, nneka, Dbanj, p square, Ice prince, Banky w, FEMI KUTI and a lot more who are taking the gift of Nigerian music outside the shores of our land. That means we have a lot to offer to the world..Hopefully very soon someone would be thanking me to by Gods Grace. Amen. The future for Nigerian music is very bright.

• Advice to up and comings?

God first, Stay Humble, Be dynamic.

• What have always been your watch words?

Creativity and Consistency

• Parting words to your fans

I always tell people I don’t have fans. What I have is family because who ever supports your endeavors is family. I Want to thank everyone who believes so much in me and also they should know their support makes me better every time.

WALE APPLAUSE - MY LOVE LETTER TO NOLLYWOOD

Where indeed is NOLLYWOOD? Even if I haven’t been there yet, almost everyone knows there is a HOLLYWOOD somewhere in America. I wonder what, who and where people call Nollywood in Nigeria. If Nollywood is the Nigeria movie industry, can someone tell me where it is situated. I once promised myself not to do this, but now I guess I had to break it after seeing movies like Slum dog Millionaire by Bollyword and the harry Porter series by Hollywood, after all these are other versions of ‘wood’.

I mean no harm with this short letter, but I also need to be clarified on what Nollywood does? I guess Movie censoring and screening are not parts of the functions, this is obvious from the kind of movies we see on African Magic on DSTV.

Slumdog Millionaire, an Indian movie successfully made it to the Oscars, winning several accolades, which ever since has been a breakthrough for Bollywood, India and her economy.

For how long do we have to wait for our breakthrough movie, yet most our actors and actresses claim to have gone to Hollywood. What for? Sightseeing I guess!

Knowing that we in the 21st century will our movies ever be medium of foreign exchange? This is a question that the veteran actors and actresses should ponder upon, but they rather exchange words and blows all in the name to be the King of an ‘unestablished’ Kingdom.

The big question is can Nollywood movies ever make it to the Oscars?

If there’s anything like Nollywood, the gospel is stop thinking about the quantity, can someone start talking quality please …

Thanks.

WALE APPLAUSE - MY LOVE LETTER TO UPCOMING ARTISTES

@waleapplause01,

applauseafricamedia30@gmail.com,

The Music factory,

Nigeria Entertainment Industry

Dear Artiste,

How are you doing and I hope you having a good time at this chosen career of yours? I’m Wale Applause a good friend and colleague in the entertainment industry whom you could have met before or will wanna meet after reading this note.

Although I do not and cannot sing, I sincerely appreciate your God’s given talents which I hope pay off well soon. Music as we all know has got different meanings to different people. Some say it’s a way of life, some find fulfillment just listening to it, but to you its BIG business. It one day should put food on your table. (Only if your cards are right) .

My writing time is limited so I’ll just have to take this bull by the horns. I’ve got few things to talk to you about and I’ll start by asking you to take a few minutes out to reminisce over yourself and your kinda music. Do you really wanna do this? It disgusts me when you walk up to me to listen to a song, one u did for ‘fun’ in the studio. Who does that? As an upcoming artiste, you don’t make music for fun. You make music to make a hit and to someday give you the cheddah. Stop going around asking peeps to listen to your ‘fun song’ cos you do not believe in your song. If you don’t believe a song or you know it doesn’t depict you, discard it!

Secondly, its intentional that I’m calling you an upcoming artiste, that’s cos for now, that is all you are. You aint full-fledged yet. As harsh as this might sound, you are nothing but an ‘upcoming’ so be humble. Treat the music factory like your secondary school, respect the seniors. You got that price to pay. Made artistes, even though a couple of them have grown wings now, at this point you are in their careers won’t have made it if they were proud. I’ll suggest you learn about humility from the likes of Rugged man and 2face Idibia. Pride goes before every fall my friend.

My dear, it hurts so deep when I listen to good lyrics and voice on a wacky beat, produced in a 2inch studio. It makes me sad that you wasting talents. Please you do not need many tracks to make a hit, put all your resources together, visit a reputable producer in a good studio, go ahead make your good song and let God make it a hit.

Women, money, good life, wines, shayo and all that, I’m real sick and tired of hearing all these in your songs. There are a lotta other stuffs to be talked about. Look around you, there are several things people wanna hear about. I know u just want to fit it, but why not rather stand out.

The fake life syndrome which is eating up into the factory shouldn’t get to you. Stop the fake life. It’s understandable that you think peeps expect a lot from you, flash cars, nice wears and all dat, but mhen! Rome wasn’t built in a day. If u aint got it, you haven’t. just live your life, let other things fall in place. Remember not all dads will be Davidos.

Prolly you never heard this before, good music doesn’t guarantee you a hit, but I can assure you that good publicity does. Even bad goods make great sales with good labels. Please do not joke with your publicity and public image. A manger differs from a publicist, but a good one could combine both. Employ professionals to do your artiste management and publicity job for you.

Enough said, I’ll conclude by warning you about moderations. When it comes to women, weed (I know you do it), wine and events, know your limits. You don’t have to be at all events. Just be where u ‘need’ to be.

About women, I got little to say, but I’ll rather share with you familiar examples such as Adam and Samson of the holy bible, Abacha will also bear me witness to that. Remember, ladies must have flocked around Eddie remedy and Azadus at some time in their career, I guess if you ask them now, they know better.

I know that after reading this letter, you will want to get in touch with me, that is why I did not forget to write my address on the top right corner of this letter.

Do have a great career my friend.

Thanks.

Yours faithfully,

Wale Applause
