He was born in the late '80s as Samuel Chinonso Chuks in Enugu state, Nigeria. Samist also known as Hero is the 8th out of 9 children. He was born into a music loving family. He started doing music professionally in 2006 but like a lot of other artistes, he started singing at a Very young age. He played in church with group of guys but they didn't have his kind of Enthusiasm so he left the group to pursue his solo career and he quit his job that same year to face music fully. His role models are Akon, Tuface Idibia, Majek Fashek, R. Kelly and Donnie Mc Clucking. His genre of music is a fine blend of reggae, trance and techno .He not only ventured into singing, but he also started music production and sound engineering.
His greatest inspiration comes from God, kids and the things that people go through in their everyday life.
He released his first single 'All My Paddy' as a solo artiste in 2011. The song was an anti- corruption song that advised the youths not to be used by politicians as agents of social ills and the video was also out not too long after. The single was directed by him alongside a co- director James d'Enigma . He is presently working on his album titled 'Your Hero'. He's new single was released on the 10th of march and it is titled '#Free Me', & it has gained a lot of acceptance on the internet and on local fm's across Nigeria
So get ready for the comeback of the Hero himself!
